There is a nice and reasonable Holiday Inn that is next door to the municipal building. For Erie is a five minute drive down the QEW. There was one that was listed for $50-something for one night...but after reading the reviews realized it was in a not-so-safe neighborhood and the others that were cheap were cheap for a reason - be it dirty, smelly, horrible customer service, severely outdated, inconvenient location, noisy, etc. Remember, you get what you paid for. We ended up settling on a Days Inn for $94/night next to the new casino and less than a mile from the Falls and other attractions. And btw, we considered the U.S. side since I don't have my passport yet but to go by land, you don't need one until January 1, 2008. Everyone says the Canadian side is definitely better.
